This achievement is a result of the COSMOS-Web program, the largest of JWST's Cycle 1 General Observation (GO) programs. By utilizing Webb's Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) and Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI), the team traced the evolution of galaxies and filament structures back to the universe's Cosmic Dark Ages, just a billion years after the Big Bang. The program's ambition was twofold: to trace galaxy evolution and examine the role of dark matter.
